Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is jaunting around the world while her city burns.
She has no business being out of the country — let alone the state, or even the county — during the commencement of the annual winds and the most dangerous months of the fire season.
She is in Ghana at a presidential inauguration.
There is no water in the fire hydrants to fight the conflagration because the reservoirs were not filled.
Karen Bass should be recalled because she cannot be trusted to handle life and death matters. She lacks judgement, and now her city is burning.
Watch the interview with Rick Caruso from the scene in LA. There are no words.
Donald Trump is far from the only fool that the American people routinely elect. Here’s the deal: if the people of Florida want Matt Gaetz on the bridge for the world’s first category 6 hurricane, they can make that choice.
The people of LA chose a AAA-mediocrity and world-class hack to be the person to deal with chaos and disaster. Now, it has come and there is no water.
This is a political and moral failure of the highest degree. It’s also a media failure because the media failed to report that there was no water in the fire hydrants.
This is a terrible tragedy that continues to grow and worsen. It didn’t have to be.
My heart breaks for the city, and all of those impacted. Their lives will be strained and tested over the days and months ahead. We should also have deep gratitude for the bravery of the firefighters who are risking their lives to bring this to an end.
Big fan but…Unfair, Steve. January is certainly NOT fire season in LA. Yes, The winds are certainly seasonal…but these fires came quick and fierce and sudden. And we have not had rain.
The water pressure issue is complex in this situation with the degree of use in so many places all at once. Bass is on her way back of course.
She may or may not be “mediocre” as you say, but no Mayor can always “know” exactly when they should “stay in town” or go on an out of town mission to create relations between LA and another country or international city. It’s not like the fires started and THEN she left.
Ridiculous attack. She has been a great Mayor, she has taken 21,000 people off the streets into safe housing in her first year. The winds usually arrive later, no one saw this coming. And listen to the LA Fire Chief-- never has there been multiple fires with city water running for 16 hours in an urban environment. Get a grip. Caruso lost, he's the hack. Shame on him and you for taking advantage of a tragedy.
