Just one more lie
Former Singapore President Lee Kuan Yew was once asked about the character of Xi Jinping, the leader of the Chinese state.
This is what he said:
He struck me as a man of great breadth. I would put him in the Nelson Mandela class of persons. A person with enormous emotional stability who does not allow his personal misfortunes or sufferings affect his judgment. In other words, he is impressive.”
Remind you of anyone?
The Chinese president is clear about how he sees the world at this dangerous moment. He, too, sees that things are falling apart. Yesterday, he warned about a return to the “law of the jungle” and the collapse of the global system:
To maintain the authority of international rule of law, we cannot use it when it suits us and abandon it when it doesn’t…
We should strengthen communication, consolidate mutual trust, cooperate closely, oppose the world’s retrogression to the law of the jungle and jointly safeguard genuine multilateralism…
How a country treats international law and the international order reflects its world view, its vision of order, its values and its sense of responsibility.
It was an obvious warning about Donald Trump, and a pitch to position China as the world’s stable superpower — rational, non-threatening, deliberate and trustworthy. These words could never have been delivered before this moment of American weakness and Trump’s insanity had fully revealed itself.
Donald Trump and his corrupt government — enabled by the most corrupt Congress in American history — have strengthened the hand of America’s foes, while selling out America’s allies. They have desecrated our national honor, disgraced our history, dishonored our Armed Forces, shamed the American people, and caused chaos in the world.
Donald Trump has made America poorer, more divided and isolated. He has personally set the stage for the 21st century to be dominated by China as the 20th was by America.
He has managed to lose a war to Iran, while transforming the Iranian regime from something truly abominable into something more abominable, extreme, defiant and truculent. He has done so with a combination of terrible judgement, worse decisions and idiotic assumptions. After all, it’s tough to tell Jesus that he’s going to lose a war, especially when he promised that everyone would be “sick of all the winning.”
Here was Donald Trump with Fox News loon and conspiracy theorist Maria Bartiromo talking about gas prices:
Here he was talking with her last night about the war, now in its 47th day, that may cost as much as $1 trillion for the achievements of making Iran more dangerous, extreme, and likely to possess the nuclear weapons that Trump says that they already possess, might get, or are about to get, depending on the time of day:
There is no time of day where Trump won’t take the opportunity to remind anyone who will listen that he “obliterated” the Iranian nuclear program not once, not twice, but many times. Many times.
Yet, the weapons remain, and they might be headed to Italy, according to Trump. Here is what he said about Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Melloni:
She’s unacceptable because she doesn’t mind that Iran has a nuclear weapon and would blow up Italy in two minutes if they had the chance.
It is an amazing and extraordinary catalogue of achievements deserving of recognition. This is why David Ellison, no doubt, has decided to honor Donald Trump at a special dinner two nights before the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. It will celebrate Donald Trump, his cabinet, his staff, their lies, corruption, cruelty and incompetence, alongside CBS journalists.
Here is how STATUS’ Oliver Darcy explained the dinner:
It flies in the face of obvious news ethics. At the very least, the optics are terrible. Paramount wishes to convince the world that it is not in bed with Trump, but events like this suggest the opposite.
Joining the CBS table for the Correspondents’ dinner as Bari Weiss’ personally handpicked guests are Stephen MiKKKer and Pete Hegseth.
Maybe Hegseth could lead the table in prayer before the meal:
Stephen MiKKKer, of course, is the architect of some of the most evil policies in American history, the building of a lawless and masked secret police, a proposed archipelago of warehouse prisons and cruelties, known and yet unknown, that will stain our nation for all time.
The corruption and indecency of it all is overwhelming.
We live in a most appalling era.
When Charlie Kirk was killed Stephen MiKKKer raged at the nation, indicting every American who did not share the bigotry and extremism of Charlie Kirk as being complicit in his murder.
Here is what he said at the time:
We are the storm. And our enemies cannot comprehend our strength, our determination, our resolve, our passion,” he thundered. “Our lineage and our legacy hails back to Athens, to Rome, to Philadelphia, to Monticello. Our ancestors built the cities. They produced the art and architecture. They built the industry.
Those are the words of a Nazi.
They are eerily similar to a speech delivered by Joseph Goebbels “not so long ago and not so far away.”
When Bari Weiss took the reins of CBS News her handpicked anchorman made a promise. Here is what he said:
A few weeks later, he “saluted” Marco Rubio at the end of a newscast that Walter Cronkite used to end with these words: “And that’s the way it is.”
The saluting has spread.
Now, David Ellison will do the saluting personally. Every Trump official is to be saluted, honored and celebrated. There is no “I” in “team,” as they say, so the Ellison boy knows there can’t be an empty celebration.
Trump once said that he “alone could fix it.”
It turns out that was just one more lie.
Trump needed help. He needed a team, and he has a great one backing him up at CBS News.
Let them have their night of dancing, drinking, fun and laughter. Good partners know how to show gratitude to one another. David Ellison doesn’t lack gratitude. He’s a rare nepo baby, indeed.

Think of it like this: The 20th century was the gasoline and combustion engine century. America dominated cause it knew how to mobilize resources and make some of the best combustion engines ever. But the 21st century will be the solar and battery century - which China will dominate - and yet the assholes in the WH and at API want us to go back to the 20th century, no matter what. Weak and stupid is no way to lead the world.
The 'Amateur Hour' of this administration is just appalling. JD [Man, I negotiated for 21 whole hours!] Vance, Jared Kushner, Steve Wittkoff, the Donald....what a laughable bunch of lightweights.
Except only the other side is laughing.
