I disagree DeSantis is Trump glossed over with poison of the Ivy league. He has bullied his compliant Republican state legislation. Formed his MAGA image rejecting Posilco to accept a ban on abortion with no exception for rape or incest, rejected redistricting and illegally created 4 Republican seats created a "fraud" mllitia with millions state funds that found no fraud, fired a school board . The list is endless but shows what a dictatorship he will create as President. His acceptance of Nazi's at his rallies shows he cleverly has kept the worst of Trump and will continue the new Trump era.

The depressing thing is that it’s far from just the electeds who support this man. Electeds do so mostly in fear. What of the citizens at large who continue to vigorously support and defend him? How do we defeat them? “To see what is in front of your nose needs a constant struggle.” - George Orwell.

Don’t kid yourself. Ron DeSantis is the most dangerous politician in our country. Trump will not get re-elected.

It is past time that the media covers stories about DJT. The media has NEVER spent so much ink and talk on any former president. Why? sensationalism. It is time that the media start exposing the dangers of DeSantis, his real record of being a governor.

If the media does not do their job and they won't it comes down to the public to expose DeSantis all over social media.

It is time to move on from Trump. This is too dangerous for anyone to ignore.

America has always had its share of crazies. That happens in a free society.

We have never had a major party play to fascism; cowards who would allow us to trundle down that dangerous road rather than stand up to the few. Politicians always have trouble placing ego aside, but not even to save the country they purport to lead?

The Republican Party finally needs to stand up to megalomania and narcissism.

Full Stop.

Steve, please write a post about exactly how the dems should craft their message to (hopefully) nail Trump after his call to destroy the US Constitution. Give them some free advice because they are surely missing a huge opportunity here.

Trump clearly broke his oath of office. He should never be allowed to hold public office again. It is as simple as that. But the Republicans are now the party of Trump and since January 6th have shown us that they can overlook all of Trump's crimes if he can help them take power again. Calling for overthrowing democracy and disregarding the constitution may be a bridge too far for many in the party - I hope.

To read the post Donald Trump wrote is absolutely disgusting beyond words. He is cornered. Another rat in a cage he built himself. Let’s home he gets taken to deep sea in the storm drain water…

DeSantis is a smarter, more "polished" version of Trump. They both terrify and appall me.

Once again I am happily in agreement with Steve's comments. Here's the rub. These republicans, mostly men of course are not real men, and this goes for the few women too. They are total cowards afraid that once they speak out against Trump, he will call them bad names and the MAGA sector who are now probably around 20 to 25 percent of the party, who will never leave Trump behind will not vote for them. So what. They took an oath to defend the constitution. I think not condemning Trump at this point will guarantee their defeat in their next election because the Democratic candidate for their office will crucify them in so many different ways they will have no chance. Good riddance to them. But, maybe I'm being naive.

What trump is doing is sending a message to his followers, the far right extremists hiding out there in this vast country with their armed, dangerous, and extremely frightening militias, that it’s time for another attack. Personally I do not trust the FBI, Secret Service, or other branches of our national security systems to have adequate staffing or preparation for this possibility. Will the DOJ with Jack Smith as the new Special Counsel, actually indict trump and his enablers by the end of the year before the new Congress convenes in January? The anxiety we have about the future of our Democracy just intensifies every day trump is still loose. The daily alarming threats, fascism, racism, anti-Semitism, anti-Asian rants make it so much harder for all of us trying to heal our country from the deep divisiveness we wake up to each morning.

Trump has been a sheister & conman his entire life. Anyone who lived in the tri-state area in the 80’s & 90’s were well aware of this.

The media LOVES him - they created him - & I doubt they’ll lay that cash cow down without a fight. He never should have had a time - yet here we are.

I can honestly say, I’ve been too caught up with Texas issues & Abbott, that DeSantis has been mostly on my periphery. These comments regarding DeSantis tells me I need to pay more attention to the threat he brings.

Say it louder! Yes, we need to move beyond this, but must never forget and remain diligent because I fear that there are eager replacements in the wings.

The time to end the Trump Era is long overdue. He is 7 years past his sell by date. We need to bury the fool and stop digging him up. Each time the Republican party resurrects the orange bloated one he is nastier and oozing maggots. Trump will not be happy until the whole country is among his walking dead and spewing hate and death.

trump is just trying to be as outlandish as possible - which for him is a pretty high bar. Time to just ignore him and take away the spotlight which is what he craves, relishes to keep his dim prospects of media attention going. If no one pays attention to him, he becomes a non-issue. He sure as hell is not going to win in 2024 - let alone the nomination. Pathetic old fat narcissist.
