Donald Trump has smashed the checks and balances, obliterated the integrity of corporate journalism, stifled dissent, and created a climate of fear with his constant threats and aggressions against the US Constitution and the American people over the last 188 days.
Steve, As your admirer, a mother, psychologist of 40 years, educator, and humanitarian I’m writing this to your followers because I believe they fully absorb what is our painful reality.
Both Hitler and Trump rose by manufacturing crises, Hitler with the Reichstag fire, Trump with false narratives of immigrant invasions and election fraud to justify authoritarian crackdowns and dismantle constitutional protections. Each attacked the judiciary, vilified the press, and corrupted civil institutions, replacing expertise with blind loyalty. Like Hitler, Trump dehumanizes vulnerable populations, cages migrants in grotesque detention centers, disappears people without due cause and fabricates threats to deploy military force, as he did in Los Angeles under the false claim of riots. Their drive for total power includes purging civil servants, defying court orders, and crushing state autonomy. They weaponize lies and fear, relying on propaganda, cult worship, and revisionist history to erase accountability. But it is not just our democratic structures that suffer, Trump’s policies have inflicted wanton damage on our economy, our global standing, and our shared sense of truth and decency. His trade wars, climate denialism, and performative cruelty have made America weaker, angrier, and more divided. Like Hitler, he thrives on chaos, vengeance, and punishing those who resist him. The parallels between Hitler and Trump are not merely their actions but their shared antisocial pathology, a profound lack of conscience, a void of empathy, and a toxic narcissism that elevates the grasping for personal power above all else.
There is a playbook and just like Hitler, Trump and his loyalists are laying the foundation of a modern American fascism. Trump has already torn children from their mothers never to return, locked people in camps, and shipped immigrants to countries known for human rights violations. This is not theoretical. It’s happening. While he isn’t building gas chambers, his facilities become a concentration camp when people are detained indefinitely without charges, denied basic hygiene and medical care, kept in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions, deprived of food, beds, and contact with the outside world, and stripped of their dignity and legal status. Trump is laying the psychological and logistical groundwork for widespread dehumanization using separation, cruelty, starvation, sickness, torture, and the quiet erosion of moral outrage. The Germans likely never imagined what Hitler and his enablers would ultimately do. We have no such excuse.
Trump is ultimately to blame for all of this but we must never forget that, regardless knowing the mountain of lies spun, he was freely elected by a majority of the American electorate who bothered to cast their ballot.
In 2024, Trump was elected President with 49.8% of the popular vote, a plurality. And in 2016, he lost the popular by 2.09% but was elected President because of our screwed up Electoral College.
Your acute and wise comment, Sarah, is a thing of perspicacious beauty torching the ugliness of the mental pathology that sustains the evil metastasizing in America and threatening human civilization. In his mentally disordered compulsion to personify the nation, Trump and his minions are morphing America from the last best hope for humanity unaccountably into its first worst dope.
Your beautifully written piece should be all over the place as people...good people...just really don't know the gravity of what is happening. They keep saying it will be over in 3 more years...but...what they don't realize is that it really will be over in three years...no democracy!
Thank you for sharing this message...I hope it goes somewhere far beyond this page!
I agree Chuck Schumer has got to go. Dems have to put away Emily Post’s book on Manners and take off their white gloves. We should be fact checking friggin every word out of his mouth and vociferously point out his depraved antics. Wake up America -his plan is to incarcerate all of us- he’s taking away our first amendment rights but he will not stop there. So in the words of the late great Bob Marley : GET UP, STAND UP
STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHT
GET UP STAND UP
DON’T GIVE UP THE FIGHT
Make no mistake, we are under attack and the French are not coming to save us. We have to save ourselves.
Everyone who has Democratic representation in the Senate MUST contact their Senators and insist that Schumer be removed from the top spot. Let them know that if they don’t, their own jobs will be on the line and that you’ll vote for the primary challenger at election time.
OMG. I have called Kelly and Gallego about 30X each and left that exact message. Unload Schumer. He’s terrible. He makes everything worse. I have received zero response. I DO receive their emails asking for money. NFW.
I lived in Argentina for years…part of which was during the “Dirty War” where people who protested simply disappeared. I have put this on other chats. Americans just don’t seem to realize that this is not just a political struggle. It is a moral one also. The cruelty we are seeing is exactly what happened there. There it was young people, students who protested. For years, mothers who never found their children demonstrated in front of the Argentine “white house”. Heartbreaking.
$3.4 trillion to the national debt. Why stop there? How about adding up all the trips to Mar-a-Lago at about $3.3 million each, plus the $9.7 million for his PERSONAL trip to Scotland. And we have another 3+ years of this to go?! As always, follow the money. Add in the unbelievable costs of nuking all environmental laws and statutes. Add in the cost of deaths coming from lack of medical research/drugs. Add in the cost of lack of education of the children born now and in the near future. Cost of not supporting our farmers and their food for all of us as well as the rest of the world. Costs of ignoring our constitution, making our military fight against our own people. Costs of suppressing our voting rights. Cost of denying immigration except for those looking like themselves. Add your own to this list. When are we going to say ENOUGH and I WON’T COMPLY! Pick it up, People; this is for all of us!
The AG department gets huge subsidies from tax payers and they fight against providing food for our low income people. These subsidies provide huge dollars for people living better than regular people. Also farm families get a huge breaks in getting college grants and scholarships than other people just for being a farm family. All kids should have the same opportunity.
According to Milgram’s obedience study, 66% of people would obey an order to kill an innocent person if an authority figure told them to. Milgram thought what happened in Germany could never happen in America and the findings depressed him. Canada didn’t attract the Type A greedy personalities that America did…but if they thrive as a country, the greedy billionaires of the world might try to corrupt them too. They need to make sure their systems aren’t susceptible to corruption.
It is also who is getting elected, not just Trump and Vance. The most important deliberative body we have is the United States Senate, and look at some of the people polluting it:
Tommy Tuberville, Marsha Blackburn, Lindsey Graham, Katie Britt, Joni Ernst, and Markwayne Mullin, to name several of them. Countries do not survive when people see fit to elect people like these dishonest morons.
John, yes you hit the nail on the head, but I would add that the constitution of your Senate punishes big States and bestows undue power on the smaller ones.
Canada does have Type A personalities at the helm, but without the monetary greedy personalities, and you won’t find Type B personalities at the helm of many countries.
Canada is quite different from Americans; it benefits from a more highly educated mass, its people share common values, and our aspirations are similar although on different scales. Because we are a small country in terms of population, we have relied on immigration to shore up our numbers. We are a bilingual and bicultural country and have learned from an early age to respect people of different countries, different colours and different social and religious customs. We’re not perfect - we also have some misfits, but in general we are a tolerant country and our political climate has been a mostly healthy one, with some exceptions along the way. We are lucky to have Marc Carney as our PM; he’s well respected, highly educated, has a wealth of knowledge and experience and enjoys the confidence of all of our Premiers for now.
Yes, education is super important. It’s a lot more affordable and respected in Canada, too. There was an electoral map simulation that showed that among college educated voters, the entire country went “blue”/voted for Harris. It’s hard to get a college education in the US though - too expensive for many. And the public school system often doesn’t get the support it needs.
And so much less expensive than the US, although some of our professional degrees (MD, MBA, B & MA Architecture. For instance, A BA in Architecture varies from $24000 to $73000.
Carney’s success should not be likened as a comeback but rather his first foray into to politics. He had never run nor been elected to a Parliamentary seat until after he was chosen leader of the LPC. He won his first seat in the riding of Nepean in the last Federal election held last April.
What are we going to do about the evil that is spreading to everyday citizens by ice raids? Trump is very clearly trying to incite armed resistance to justify his army of thugs who are undisciplined and so far unaccountable for their brutality. The stubborn fact is that nobody who supports Trump has basic decency.
When comparing America in 2025 to Nazi Germany, the major difference is that in 1933 the majority of Germans were living in poverty and despair while we in present day America are not. Trump can lie and use his mouthpieces on X and Foxnews to spread disinformation and mistruths but most Americans know what is going on and more are learning about, and being disgusted by, the MAGA abuses and crimes every day. The facts and the persistence/determination of the resistance are the most viable enemies of Trump and his cult and, in the end, that is what will take him down. And out.
I'm afraid most Americans don't know what's going on. They might have a sense of the small world around them, but are gullible to hyperbolized stories of burning cities rampant with immigrant crime, dog-eating migrants from sh*thole countries, hugely elevated prices, students in cat litter boxes being turned gay or even trans by malevolent teachers - none of which they're experiencing, but they're sure are happening out there in the dangerous, Democrat-led cities. We can't count on facts to save us, nor are voters moved by abstractions like democracy and free speech, which they think only apply to them and those who agree. We are in a deep, dark hole of ignorance, bigotry and lies.
I have no doubt that the people ICE is attracting are bullies, thugs, and bigots. I checked it out and it seems the requirements don't even include having a high school degree. The only requirements are being a U.S. citizen, having a driver's license, and meeting the age requirement (many times being under 37). Also required are passing a background check, medical exam, and drug test. Some positions require passing a physical fitness test and being able to carry a firearm.
These thugs are the people now roaming our streets and showing up at playgrounds, schools, and court houses and wearing masks while refusing to identify themselves in order to make people disappear without any due process.
In other words, they're our version of the Brownshirts in Germany in the 1930s.
Steve, there is evil flourishing here in the US, I see people everywhere standing up to it, and it may appear to be stronger than those standing up to it; but, in the end the good will prevail.
Has anyone in the media asked the question, why does Trump surround himself with sex abusers? Andrew Tate, Trump convinced Romania to send him back to the US after being bought sex trafficking. Linda McMann’ husband accused of sex abuse case pending. Numerous GOP members caught within this last year I could go on the internet and have at least ten names all affiliated with Trump. Epstein matter, there is already so much out there about this matter all one would need to do is read the testimonies on record that Trump knew and participated in the grotesque grooming and having sex with young girls. It is out there, the problem is that it seems that no one wants to listen to what thay have to say, sad but true.
Why is it that the more MAGA demand that the files that the AG has be released the crueler and Trump comes up with out landish ideas to try and distract from the subject, and surprisingly to no it is not working. Could it be that some people’s eyes are opening up to the possibility that he might be involved?
Has anyone reported on Trumps new EO, stating that Homeless people are now to be rounded up and put into these camps being build along with the immigrants/migratnts? It appears to me that his list is getting longer!
We elected a man who simulated giving a blow job to a microphone during the last campaign and danced to a random playlist for 40 minutes. There is no bottom to this. Is there another example in history of a once-great country crumbling under the weight of its profound depravity?
Joemygod regularly covers child abuse and other examples of sexual immorality and hypocrisy among those working with children in various Christian denominations. Most of them, of course, think Trump was annointed by god to "Christianize" the nation.
Anthony, I know all about Ryan Walters, the Great Embarrassment of Oklahoma! I live in Oklahoma and have been outraged for the last several years at what Walters is doing to our kids school. This man needs to be put back into the corner he came from! What happened with the porn does not surprise me hopefully this will end him, but this is Oklahoma and I have seen worse unfortunately get away with stuff like that.
Yes, the taking advantage of young girls is rampant among a lot of the powerful evangelicals, bankers, and a lot of dirty wealthy men, I learned how to diffuse those kind of people at around 14 years old and for a while hoped that the me too movement would end that behavior once and for all, but it went too far and now it is back to square one. These people have the levers of power now, I HOPE THAT THEIR FACADE WILL BE SOON PULLED DOWN AND THEY PAY THE PRICE for what they know is wrong!
It's unforgivable behavior,to torment people for $$$.!!! This whole ICE aperatice needs to be Disbanded Now. Congress needs to step up and make Laws that enforce wearing Badges,Patches and No Face Coverings!!! Thanks for Venting today, and will reStack ASAP 🙏
As usual, Steve, your passionate defense of freedom is a rare ray of sunshine in the darkness descending upon us. Thanks for reminding us that we must regularly water the tree of liberty or else it will die. I live in NY, and sadly am represented by the awful Chuck Schumer. What especially bothers me is why the Democrats don’t believe that they can walk and chew gum at the same time. Why not run on affordability and democracy at the same time? Who says that we have to choose one or the other? I’m 83 but I hope to still be around to vote against Chuck when he inevitably runs again in 2028.
Keep up the good fight. It may not seem like it now but the American Experiment is worth fighting for.
Well said, Sarah. We are in a world of hurt and trouble. I have no children of my own but am extremely fearful for the next generation. Many of their parents appear to be clueless about what's going on. Am in my 70s so not much more time for me. Am actually grateful but full of guilt for the world we are leaving behind. Curses on those who voted for this sick bastard.
Thank you, Steve, for another terrific piece! The only ‘distraction section’ for me was blaming Chuck Schumer and the Democrats. Polls can come and go, but we are now living in this chaotic environment because of us Republicans, MAGA or not. Every Republican who voted for this terrible man in 2024 needs to do penance and double their personal efforts to right the wrongs in their communities. Thanks for your excellent work, Steve! I’m a 74-year old Reagan Republican, living in Los Angeles (my entire life).
We all have to move now—and into action against a harmful government that sponsors pedophiles and covers up for them. The needy and children are being abused—by our government. We must protest in the streets until we go down or we oust tyrants, outright crooks, and pedophiles. I made 33 protest signs, and will make many more to share. You will see something different in these signs! Help yourself to this first batch, and share them as far as you can. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/free-protest-signs?r=3m1bs
I'd like to ask something pertinent, down the text a bit, that I have yet to find any answers, other than wait for the midterms, do a constitutional amendment, to overrule the immunity ruling which, I humbly opine is both, unfinished and acts merely as a guidance to a lower court.
The ruling, based on the motion to dismiss, Smith's J6 case, yet was never remanded, and the 11th Circuit's appeal, by Smith, never ruled on, of sloth Cannon's dismissal, was just dismissed as the clock ran out.
I call BS..
I'm immensely against the judicial's breach of fiduciary duty to We The People, as well as their Oaths to uphold the constitution, not make a new one, with unbridled deference to felon, sexual assault predator, tax evader, Donald Trump, not create law, amend laws or anything else having to do with their duties to the constitution, even per the late Scalia, and ceding their powers under the Constitution, while removing those of 700 judges to leave only 9 to the ability to impose national injunctions.
Why are we not being more aggressive on the legal battlefield? Specific to the SCOTUS? The time is novice, the immunity ruling was novel and insulting if not worse, the takeover seems to be no one's concern as it's done, roughshod, illegally, as individual will, and unconstitutionally.
Robert's and HIS COURT may love this and be in love with the UET but do they realize this is far past that?
Orban fixed his high court problem by shortening their terms to his power term. Germany had an all in court at first until they didn't.
I'm not sure LAW is the proper term but I read yesterday, Mr. Goring, has sued the Chief Justice and why isn't anyone else doing the same, but in a different context, to reopen a new case against the POTUS, as a sitting POTUS is not free from having a prosecution take place that I'm aware of, outside of NORMS, and what are those, for what is left unfinished, the Chief Justice for a complete lack of consideration and thought in the immunity ruling that added to the constitution as a power not vested or having a damn thing to do with the Separation of Powers.
He needed to go back in time 250 years to dissect the definitions of, the thought process of, the rationalization of, Hamilton and the Founders if he is going to use the Fed papers.
It is written garbage, or whatever else can be or is applicable to their Oath and fiduciary duty which is not to the POTUS.
Why isn't Thomas being asked to recuse at every step, on every shadow docket case, every time he takes a HOOBY, due to his wife's insane and deep role in J6, which if nothing more is a strong enough tie/support of a political side that he remains biased?
The Dems are disgusting.
I don't agree with Martin at all.
I don't like Schumer at all.
I don't like Jeffries much more.
When will we grab our own power, even in the minority, to start the pushback on the illegal, not power grabs by the admin and if I hear that statement one more time.....it is a dictatorial restructuring of his powers, the Executive and the entire government for whom?
HIS IMAGE, he's certainly not a fashion icon so the legacy media might embrace that ridiculous term but I don't, the Heritage, Theil, the new nuclear enrichment site in Kentucky, the surveillance company, Palantir owned by Theil, Erik Prince building gulags in El Salvador or here, making deals, with global dictators, while Trump wasn't in office for a Trump presidency, which is gut wrenchingly unsettling, that is illegal/unconstitutional. What Logan Act?
Goring opened the door on 2/22/33, for SS and SA men, to "relieve the regular police" in its fight against the Left. Nazi thugs were delighted. As auxiliary policemen, they could now settle scores with their political enemies without worrying about interference from the police; they had become the police. This legal now, per SCOTUS? Per the judiciary? Per the Dems?
I'm spent.
The EO that was issued on 7/24/25 was the scariest piece yet.
This was what was passed on 2/28/33 by the Third Reich President, in response to the Reichstag Fire, and it's order was called, and most have not a clue:
DECREE OF THE REICH PRESIDENT FOR THE PROTECTION OF PEOPLE AND STATE.
This decree had suspended basic civil liberties. It became known, in the words of the emigre German scientist Ernst Frankel, something like the "constitutional charter of the THIRD REICH", justifying all manner of abuses of power--including the denial of personal freedom without JUDICIAL oversight or appeal. The Nazi practice of lawless detention was unprecedented both in severity and scope. Is it now unprecedented?
Roberts would say that wasn't a reason to NOT grant immunity to a fascist. Right?
Now, why is it TF we can't do anything but talk about GD Epstein's book and a pardon for his sex trafficking partner, to again save reality for the base, to blame the OTHERS, not the LEADER OR SAVIOR OR REDEEMER's ass who strips healthcare, lies about tariffs, Iran, every fkn thing he can lie about he does...Mr. Cohn you up there?
Trump is guilty so what do people actually believe will occur? A midterm? A miracle?
NO, more lies, more cover ups, more indecent accusations that are a psychological bomb on the already trauma bonded base.
An onslaught of legal maneuvers and demands, by the resistance, for which the people will rise but can't do it alone without the backing of legal authority, a law license, a knowledge of what the remedies are or novelly could be.
FKN HELP!!!!!
I'm done reading if no plan can't be put in place by those who know the end goal, the battlefield, the resources, the money, the talent, meet in caverns in the dark at 3 a.m. to create a battle plan that then gets out by way of some inspirational manner that we all can relate to and will definitely participate in. That is what this takes. Not the Dems. Not more time, no norms...FKN fight!!! Plan!!
Shit we had FOUR years with or without the Biden rerun and autopsy stupidity, to plan for this, just like Trump had a decade to come up with something more than a concept for replacing Obamacare..he didn't because he doesn't want to and never intended to. Is this how we feel? Not me but I can't, nor can anyone, alone fix this, after our chance for cheaper eggs, from the cheap credit guy, who had both chambers, Obama's fed funding rate, and then back to emergency rate of zero, and a wealth tax cut and a sluggish GDP. If those things were different he'd have face planted like now and he'd not be in the WH.
He's face planting now, as much as we are and we can't figure out how to let go of 24, get out from underneath Schumer and NORM talking, and we're doing it while we sit and watch.
This isn't him, alone, as he doesn't care but about Biden, Obama, and blame.
The others involved have something else in mind, completely. Dark, sinister and will last way beyond TRUMP.
Sorry, Steve, this is for everyone who reads this. I'm angry AF. Have been, will be, and at this rate will die angry. May my skin produce bio-fuel to impress.

I'm very impressed how Canadians saw very quickly how " Maple MAGA " was a bad deal. PM Marc Carney's political comeback is astounding.
Unfortunately, their American cousins are a bit slow on seeing through the MAGA con job.

Yes, spot on. I am seeing Americans doing terrible things.

You forgot one of the qualifications: the candidate must be a conscienceless sadist.
Those "standards" will decline rapidly as they scrape to find recruits.
I would love to see a reporter embed in ICE “training “ to see exactly what they are training is about.
They can't do that! It wound offend Trump! /s
In 1947, I remember seeing photographs of Jews being arrested by German soldiers and police.
I have never forgotten the dread I felt, thinking that the victims had no one to turn to for rescue.
In 2025 the soldiers and police are now here making such arrests, and the Democrats will not answer the cries for help.
Although some Democrats are supporting ICE and their tactics, they are facing serious backlash:https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/75-democrats-express-gratitude-to-ice-in-antisemitism-vote-amid-la-riots/ar-AA1GoYn7
However, many Democrats, mostly progressives, are calling to unmask and curtail ICE agents in their obvious violations of human rights and due process:https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/democrats-ice-immigration-detention-centers-b2755491.html
Rome
Yes, hard to compare across the centuries, but definitely a contender.
I compare Trump to Nero
Child sexual abuse and use of pornography by the hypocrites who rail against it is also common, not only among the Roman Catholic Church clergy, but among those involved in the evangelical fundamentalist versions of Christianity. One example is Oklahoma state superintindent of schools and absolutely, certifiably insane, Ryan Walters. You can read about this nut case here: https://www.joemygod.com/2025/07/oklahoma-schools-chief-told-to-unlock-and-turn-over-devices-after-porn-was-seen-on-his-office-tv/
Thank you! Blame shouldn’t be put on Schumer and the Dems! This is all the fault of those who voted for Trump and his herd of Repubs!
