Cause and effect
William A. Finnegan is a Substack writer I enjoy because he writes with precision about what happened so that we can understand what is happening.
This is a rare thing in 2025 America.
Does that sound confusing?
It shouldn’t.
Common sense would suggest that an appreciation for how disaster arrived might be useful for navigating out of it, but alas, there is a great deficit of common sense among the leaders of the Washington, DC, Democratic Party. They are allergic to the use of legitimate political power to stop the ceaseless abuse of political power.
Some day, decades from now, when the events of these troubled days are long passed, historians will write volumes explaining how it all happened, and specifically, why a criminal who incited a coup was never prosecuted.
Below explains why the East Wing of the White House was demolished, why the Oval Office looks like it was decorated by Caligula, why war is imminent in South America, why America stands with Putin against NATO over Ukraine, why the CDC has been decimated, why masked Gestapo terrorize immigrants, and why the closest friend of the most notorious pedophile of the 21st century sits in the most powerful office in the world, surrounded by a collection of nutters that beggars description — beyond comparison to the creature cantina from Star Wars:
Cause and effect used to be a comprehensible concept for most Americans.
Unfortunately, not anymore.
Jim Bean, the Kentucky distiller, recently announced that it is shuttering its main distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. In 2024, Kentucky voted for Donald Trump with a vote share of 64.4%, the best performance by a Republican presidential candidate in the state’s history. U.S. bourbon exports to Canada fell by as much as 85 per cent in mid-2025 after Canada imposed tariffs on American whiskey in retaliation for US steel/aluminum duties.
There are few obscenities on television who exceed CNN’s corrupt Scott Jennings, an unprincipled lightweight and sneering sycophant, who plays the role of “MAGA Little Mikey.” He’ll eat anything for Trump.
Recently, Jennings thirsted for Trump’s blessing so that he could run for the Senate seat of his former boss, the decrepit and corrupt Mitch McConnell.
Here is what Jennings said to Eric Bollings when asked if he would run if Trump “taps:
I do think politics is a team sport, and I think Trump’s the head coach, and eventually he’s gonna weigh in on this.
My political advice would be to anybody, you know, if he calls a play, we’re gonna have to run it … so I don’t really have any announcement about it at the moment.
I pay very close attention to everything the president says.
He didn’t want to represent the state. He wanted to represent Trump, whose policies have crushed the state, which is ironic because so many Trump voters cast their votes hoping Trump would harm other Americans whom they didn’t like.
Guess what happened?
There is an old western saying that suggests that when you go on a mission of revenge that it is wise to dig two graves.
Every single Jim Beam employee who voted for Trump just got a little taste of the Kool-Aid experience earlier cultists enjoyed at Jonestown.
Again, here is William Finnegan explaining what happened:
Cause and effect.
It’s a very simple concept.
The DNC, led by the stupendously incompetent Ken Martin, is not interested in cause and effect, or having any discussion about an electoral loss to a criminal and a rapist who incited a coup because such a discussion will be a “distraction.”
Makes sense. LOL.
Donald Trump has no greater ally than delusional Democrats, who refuse to use legitimate power to stop his lawless exercise of authority.
The divide inside the Democratic opposition is not ideological, though there are great tensions in this space as would be natural in any big tent coalition.
The true divide is between delusion and reality.
The ability to see the world as it exists is an under-appreciated talent generally and exceedingly rare in the leadership of the institution that is responsible for opposing the agenda of an American fascist who believes he is Caesar, not president.
Democrats made a terrible mistake in 2020 when they believed that defeating Trump would stop him, as opposed to understanding that the election was a gateway to dealing with what he has wrought.
There are no gentle accommodations to be made with the abuses by Trump against the US Constitution. They must be relentlessly opposed until they stop. When they stop it will be time to investigate every dimension of every corrupt act from the first second of the Trump administration to the last. A message must be sent to our descendants about how business is handled by a free people who come under attack by a conspiracy.
What has happened in America in 2025 is intolerable.
Greg Bovino, the unelected ICE/Gestapo thug, spent his Christmas Day attacking elected members of Congress. Here is just one example:
Who does he think he is?
Who elected him to anything?
He works for us. The position of the next Democratic president should be aimed at stripping pensions and incarcerating criminals with badges of which Bovino is certainly one.
Chuck Schumer is a political eunuch, who practices the philosophy of the lamb.
His incompetence has made us all prey, and the corrupt corporate media has framed our current disaster as something that is always coming due…maybe tomorrow.
Life doesn’t work like that.
It never has, and it never will.
The bill has arrived.
We will begin payments in 2026.
When enough of us are paying more than we can bear it will stop, but until then…
“Heil Trump!” as they dance the night away at Mar-a-Lago.

#Chuckthecuck needs to go along with all the rest of the corporate Democrats that only represent the donor class and the consultantcy.
So true, it hurts.
