Twelve years ago, Sharyn Alfonsi, the “60 Minutes” correspondent whose story about human rights abuses at the El Salvadorean-US concentration camp/gulag known as CETOC, delivered a commencement speech at Ole Miss, where she graduated in 1994.
I saw the censored SETOC segment because I live in Canada, where there is a government that doesn't censor the press. It is brutal, as bad as anything the Nazis ever schemed up. Bari Weiss is no journalist, and she isn't fit to tie Sharyn Alfonsi's shoes. Would Bari Weiss trade her right to marry whomever she chooses in return for lower taxes?
I just watched the 60 Minutes piece on Cecot. It is indeed up to the standards of the most venerable news show in broadcasting. No wonder Bari Weiss did not want it aired. Your comparison between Weiss and Alfonsi is spot on. The contrast between corruption and integrity could not be more profound. Since Alfonsi’s piece is accessible, everyone should be encouraged to watch it and make it go viral. Kudos to Alfonsi and to you, Steve, for keeping this story front and center where it belongs.
Weiss' argument for not airing the segment is so specious that it reveals her lack of even an iota of integrity. She claims it was unbalanced since the Trump regime's perspective was not included; however, the regime had been asked to react to the content as part of the story and refused to do so. Weiss knows that, obviously. These people are responsible for so many deaths, so much suffering around the globe that I do not understand how they can live with themselves. They have brought shame and disgrace on our country.
Great work, Ms. Alfonsi! My deepest thanks. Same to you, Steve. I hope our journalists find their platform(s). I'm glad that Bari Weiss created the platform for this story, because now it's searched for and watched far and wide rather than a one-time Sunday night before Christmas. Ho, Ho, Ho!

I started reading Bari Weiss's online publication, The Free Press, because I wanted to see opinions from both sides of the political spectrum. What I found instead is right wing propaganda disguised as moderation. Take a look at their comments sections. You will see what types of people are their faithful readers. Bari Weiss is hardly the objective journalist she purports to be.
I made the same mistake of subscribing. Her faithful readers are right-wing lunatics and I don’t have anything positive to say about the writers who saddled up with her on that Substack. I quickly deleted my subscription and I regret ever getting her a dollar. Bari W is a disgrace.
Please don't use that degrading-to-all-women vile word. It reeks of misogyny. Please discredit her according to her failures as a human being. It's easy enough.

I think they do a great job of going in depth of just what they are all about. Just one line or phrase does not always capture all that they are. But, there are some good starting points for a deeper dive to understand what they are really all about. On the surface some things may sound okay, but deeper you see how sinister it all is favoring a select few to the detriment of the many.

I was shocked to see that at some point the Church of Scientology has acquired full broadcast rights to channel 320. Was this something done during this administration.
Scientology acquired that channel in March 2018. I have been interested in the workings and controversies surrounding this Scientology organization for some time. Below this is the link to the wikipedia information on their network. Below that is an overview of the Church and its history.
I also think it important to put out the word on the value of wikipedia for obtaining information. The wikipedia website has made credible claims to its value to the public in general and its needs for modest funding funding from the public.
