Please tell Elissa Slotkin. Make sure she gets this piece. Same for Adam Schiff. Same for John Ossoff. Same for Jake Auchincloss. Same for Seth Moulton. Find the fighters. Inform the fighters. Same for Robin Kelly. Same for Eric Swalwell. Same for Chris Murphy. Same for Mark Kelly. I agree with your epiphany. Now, as they say, "Find the helpers." Help them be the change we need.

Why can't Schumer and Jeffries be replaced as leaders in the party? There are no steadfast (ridiculous) rules stating this can't be done. I've asked my reps to replace them, but nothing gets done. Don't those 'leaders' realize they're cooked if the party doesn't regain the majority, not to mention the rest of the country?

Exactly!! Those are the individuals that should take over the Democratic caucus immediately if we would like to stand a chance in 2026!

Yes! We need the fighters, the DOERS.

Steve: thank you. This should be reposted countless times. Schumer has always been a colossal appeaser. He is a full coward protecting his little power pile. That Cheshire Cat grin, his total unwillingness to confront issues and even attempt to lead… these are blatantly obvious. Why are the snoozing, lazy Dems still lined up around him?

He is worse than useless. As your quote perfectly illuminates: he is as guilty as the perpetrators. Standing by and looking the other way.

How can we get rid of him and his insipid grinning, self-important face?

All Dems should be sending emails and/ or letters to democratic party leaders (all DNC members and all chairs of fundraising groups) telling them we will not donate to the party until current leaders are gone, especially Schumer and Jeffries. I am sending such communications stating I will donate to candidates I find worthy but not to the party. If enough people send this same message to the DNC, ibyjink we can get rid of these appeasers and replace them with courageous fighters.

I could not agree more.

That is my question!

Thanks Steve, I’ve just left my message on Schumer’s phone asking when he’s going to go to Minnesota….i intend to call him every day until he goes!

Masha's avatar

Maybe we don’t want him to go. Can we instead have the real fighting Democrats go instead?

After Chuck Schumer told those of us in New Jersey that Robert Menendez was “a great public servant,” I knew the jig was up.

Chuck Schumer, although 75 I know, is a lazy son of a bitch. He IS indifferent. Why? Is he just effing lazy and out of touch? Or is he running interference for MAGA?? Either way, he needs to be FORCED out. He will not leave voluntarily...and america will see its last sunrise.

He is simply weak and cowardly. I’m sure he never thought he would have to deal with the existential crises that we all now face. He should have gone for a career more suited to his character: garbage pickup or car washer.

I guess the people on Wall Street that pull Schumer’s strings don’t particularly care about what happens on the streets of Minneapolis.

We shouldn’t be surprised an Schumer’s conduct. When he resumed his position as senate majority leaders in 2021, he busied himself pushing through Biden’s economic priorities, but failed to impeach Trump and failed to push through reforms that could have fixed the legal and constitutional flaws revealed by Trump’s first term, and prevented Trump’s lawless return to power. After falling into the minority, Schumer postured with some token legislation in response to SCOTUS’s horrible immunity decision, but even though he knew he had no realistic chance of passing the republican controlled congress.

Chuck-e-Cheese reminds me of the German Catholic Center Party which on March 23, 1933, provided the needed votes in the Reichstag for the passage of the (Hitler Dictatorship) Enabling Act. In return, the Party got a promise to protect the parochial schools.

Those deals with the devil(s) never ever work out do they?

Trump 1.0 when on the campaign trail would always say, “ What have you got to lose if you vote for me? “

The Dems need that sort of urgency and thinking of “ What do we have to lose? “

They’re already losers. They’ve already lost. They are constantly losing ground daily.

Well?

What have you got to lose Dems? Take a swing. Kick something. Do something different. Confront something. Or just simply tell the orange imbecile and his MAGANAZIs…..” No! Fuck off. We’re not doing that / this. “ It is said the greatest journey begins with one small step. For the Dems It can all start with a simple no.

Trashing Schumer seems to be all you can do lately. Why keep harping on something that only hurts the Democrats. Instead do as another commenter suggested and spend your time and energy on building up the brave activist Senators who are speaking out loudly and are taking a stand. Emphasize what they are doing and broadcast it widely and work with them to change the leadership in the Senate. Stop wasting your talent and time trashing Schumer and do something more productive and meaningful to help move the Senate forward by empowering and encouraging those who are loudly speaking out. And there are many !

Dear Karen, I live in NY not the city… the hinterlands…. Chuckles has NEVER shown up here and we have invited him numerous times… both our senators only care about the cities in NY. They are jokes. They are powerful because they represent the financial interests of the wealthy .

They say the right things, but don’t seem to have time to show any shred of empathy.

I understand your suggestion and it has merit. But I want leadership that represents me now….

Schumer et al are directly responsible for our catastrophe by not actively working against Biden running much sooner.

I have called and written to Chuck Schumer. Asking him what the hell is he doing to fight back? I have asked him yo resign. He is useless.

Alan Schnur's avatar

Can't imagine why the word 'embarrassment' comes immediately to mind. Might it be because the 'leadership' of the Democratic Party exhibits no creativity, no passion, no backbone in the face of what is nothing less than a hostile takeover of Minneapolis? Trump should be thanking them for their support.

Only we can save ourselves.

How can they dump Schumer if he won't, and he won't, resign.

Steve, agree, 100% You need to get on TV and say this. Or, do you have a way to talk to the strong senators and CONGRESS people like Slotkin and Kelly and have them publicly rebel against the feckless fools leading the Democratic caucus?

If ever there was a time for a rapid revolution in the Democratic Party, today is the day. The clock is ticking and we will not get voter turnout if peoples only choice is to vote for feckless individuals versus fighters that inspire them. The fighter contingent in the democratic party within Congress should do the equivalent of (I suppose) a tea party movement. Schumer and Jefferies are fools beyond measure and must be removed as impediments to restoring liberty and justice for all.

Robert Jaffee's avatar

“They are all things to all people — and nothing at all at the same time. They are blue chimeras that dance in the distance and disappear up close when danger draws near…..They are pathetic men.”

Very true, since the leadership from the republicans and democrats all drink from the same troughs so……

Moreover, Schumer and Jeffries are feckless because they are in bed with AIPAC and many billionaires who also happen to be in bed with Heritage, and the Evangelical movement which are Israel’s biggest supporters!

Therefore, it’s an incestuous relationship which leaves everyone else in the cold and left wanting!

On the bright side, at least the democrats leave a few bread crumbs for the little people; republicans are a wrecking ball!🏈
