I love this idea, Steve. You mentioned your great-grandfather being from Krakow. I spent a few days there last November. I was profoundly affected by my visit to Poland. The Polish understand what is at stake. The Holocaust affected almost everyone, and they make it a priority to keep that history relevant to their citizens, but just as importantly to all visitors.

I’m listening now to Jon Meacham’s biography of Thomas Jefferson and am finding that, imperfections and all, he defined the idea of America in ways that continue to resonate today, and that show up in your writing. Let’s find ways throughout the year to celebrate the real America, not the cancerous version Trump is responsible for…the one we’re in chemotherapy for now. Keep up what you do…we’re with you.

Your message rings true with me. I look up to my Uncle who died in the early days of WWII. He was a Marine Raider sent to the south Pacific to fight. Although I never had the opportunity to meet him I know his sacrifice was honorable and the shock to his family was immense.
Such sacrifice is not understood by the Epstein Elite Oilagarchy that now risks our military and nation for a traitorous pedophile with no values.
We must fight NOW with everything we have or we too will be lost…

MLK, FDR, Lincoln, three Americans whom I have held in my heart since I began to read. It was a privilege to breathe the same air as MLK, brief as it was. True patriotism or whatever one cares to call it, has meant caring for those around you. Lincoln's brief address at Gettysburgh covers so much. FDR was idolized by my grandparents, one on braces due to polio. I lived outside D.C. when King gave his address and remember my father telling us about it. The story of the start of the revolution, less than 10 miles from where we lived in the 60s and 70s, never fails to inspire. I could be considered uneducated, no college, GED, but I take a back seat to no one when it comes to the story of America.
Go for it Steve, you amaze me with the breadth of your understanding and vision. I agree with you so often you would think we were kin. This vision of America was worth fighting for 250 years ago and that holds true today. Freedom is not an idea to be taken lightly, it is something that flows like the blood in our bodies and needs to be protected alike. The “shining city on a hill” and the light it spreads is indeed a legacy that we should embrace and work to perfect, we owe that effort not just to ourselves and our heirs but to all of humanity, who after all, are indeed our brothers and sisters. 👍🏻👍🏻🙏

Your origin story has particular resonance for me as my father’s parents both emigrated from Poland at the turn of the 20th century just as my mother’s parents were arriving from The Ukraine. It has always amazed me how so many Americans forget that all of us are descendants of immigrants or immigrants ourselves (even “native Americans “ emigrated from Siberia over the Baring Sea land bridge). I always look forward to your work. Though it is almost always filled with a rage I share against Trump and his turd polishing acolytes, your innate optimism and sense of hope for our country always shines through. I feel privileged to be a paid supporter of your important work. Keep it coming.
Wonderful idea! Most Americans don't travel to Poland or anywhere else or even read a historically based novel. With that in mind, I hope you keep the stories geared toward those Americans. Keep them short and simple. I hate to suggest it, but maybe the people who actually need to read (or hear) the stories will actually do it if they are easy to understand.
