Thank you for your brilliant essay but we also must remove all RepubliCON legislators that put loyalty to the Orange Monster before their oath to the U.S. Constitution!!! Every damn one of them for the memory of Renee Good and Alex Pretti!!!

Also, we must get rid of Schumer. Jeffries, and the 7 Dems voting to fund DHS. Im so sick of this Pay to Play government. Get rid of all compromised politicians and SC justuces along with Trvmp and his cabinet.

Citizens United needs to front and center in messaging. Specifically, tallying up the billions and billions of dollars spent on American elections. This is why lawmakers have stopped representing their constituents altogether. Billionaires fund think tanks that tell the lawmakers they bought purchased what to say. It is part of the reason the GOP felt super confident telling their lawmakers not to hold town hall meetings in their communities. It’s one of the reasons GOP lawmakers have increasingly refused to participate in public debates. It’s one of the reasons the GOP ripped up their party platform and replaced it with “whatever Trump says.”

Things I would like amplified by those fighting to defeat Trump and his collaborators:

1) vote by mail and early voting options are essential to ensure the physical safety of voters. In 2020 polling location received bomb threats, later determined to have originated from Russia. Trump wants to militarize elections held on one day, one paper ballots, monitored by armed military and/or paramilitary, with very few exemptions for vote by mail. If the Democrats are going to demand concessions from the GOP, one should be that they stop undermining faith in our elections and attacking vote by mail and early voting which are important voting methods to ensure American can vote without fear of physical violence and intimidation at the polls.

2) We need strong consumer regulations regarding tech surveillance and privacy, not just for our safety but the safety of all humans on earth. If Trump can use Palantir surveillance tools to locate immigrants, then Palantir surveillance tech poses huge safety risks to humans in other countries when weaponized by brutal dictators.

3) Silicon Valley Tech and American media being used as weapons of war - not just to tear apart our country, but to unravel the world. If America is committed to democracy, we cannot this to continue. If we are a democratic country, we cannot allow American tech billionaires and American billionaires openly working together to undermine other democracies. For years we have talked about Russian and Chinese trying to influence American elections. Now American companies, billionaires, and tech is being used to undermine democracies worldwide.

4) The group of tech billionaires that have become Trump’s oligarchs operate like a cartel/monopoly. Everyone knows that Musk is a nazi, apartheid supporter who promotes eugenics beliefs on X. In the years leading up to the 2020 election, American social media products were full of violent propaganda promoting a military coup to install Trump as a permanent dictator, public executions of “traitors,” “enemies,” political lawmakers, essentially anyone who disagreed with Trump, and lots of photos of gallows and lynchings, lies about election fraud and illegal immigrants voting, promotion of the racist Great Replacement Theory, and attempts to smear Trump’s critics as pedophiles, promoting the idea of rounding up Trump’s “enemies” for imprisonment at Gitmo. Lots of networked propaganda campaigns to promote vulgar nicknames on Democratic lawmakers: Pete Buttigieg was “Buttplug.” Kamala Harris had multiple vulgar nicknames like “Heels Up Harris,” “Kneepad Harris,” “Cameltoe Harris,” “BJ Harris” for “Blowjob Harris.” President Biden was nicknamed “Pedo Joe.”

All of the above has continued on these social media products. Users have been trolled into suicide by imposter accounts, users have been threatened with violence, doxed, and swatted in their homes. Propaganda campaigns have included the lie that French President’s Macron’s wife Bridgette and Michelle Obama are really men.

YouTube contains a lot of AI deepfake videos depicting politicians and MAGA influencers spreading a lot of the above propaganda about election fraud and deep state conspiracies. These platforms are unable to stop the viral spread of disinformation and X’s community notes attached a day or two afterwards are insufficient.

These social media apps are available in the Google and Apples stores and are available in many countries. We need to pursue an agenda that addresses these issues within America, but encourage America lawmakers to collaborate with other democratic countries on solutions.

The billionaires surrounding Trump have played a huge role in where we are today. I don’t know all of the specifics, but I have read that American tech companies have insisted the US threaten other countries with high tariffs to prevent competition to Apple and Google, including the apps. American tech has gone all in on surveillance and tracking of users across literally every cell phone, computer, table, TV, smart watches - which has made everyone in the world less safe. It’s possible the US’s trade policies have prevented other countries from creating, better safer tech products with regulations on surveillance and tracking and consumer data.

Surveillance and tracking by tech and online products is extremely unpopular with consumers - so we might be able to expand a coalition around that.

Crypto/bitcoin scams were created by the same group of Silicon Valley tech billionaires trying to unravel the world so they can create sovereign countries - aka “network states” or Trump’s “freedom cities.” Trump’s “Board of Peace” group is also an attempt to create a privately owned “New Gaza.” The idea driving billionaires to create sovereign countries or corporate Network States is exist outside of the existing world order and international laws. The crypto / bitcoin scheme was designed to enrich the billionaires by trying to tank the economy, devalue the dollars, in the hopes of destabilizing the global economy so that instead of the dollar, everything is tied to their digital currency and therefore Network State billionaires crate their own digital currency system completely outside of international banking. Digital currency might be preferred by money launderers, sex traffickers, and other criminals so that is a concern.

The crypto industry were successful in getting some support from democrats and I suspect they do not fully understand that crypto/bitcoin was developed to undermine and operate completely outside of the protection of banks, which are insured.

I will add more as I wrap my head around these topics.

American has a huge cyber fraud problem that our lawmakers ignore because they have been bought by the same companies that profit from ignoring it. We don’t even know if the companies themselves, including Silicon Valley tech billionaires, are engaged in the cyber fraud. Instead of prioritizing ways to significantly decrease cyber fraud, corporate america and Silicon Valley tech is increasingly making it harder for Americans to have any meaningful way to recover the money they lose to cyber fraud. Cyber fraud costs are estimated to be in the billions every year - so why is all of corporate America and Silicon Valley tech not being forced to make this is a priority.

I know an elderly couple in Arkansas that were recently the victim of a financial scam where they were duped into withdrawing $20,000 cash from their bank and turning it over to a third party. And it was reportedly happening to other elderly Americans. Shocking to know this isn’t a priority for the FBI, the tech industry, the banking industry, lawmakers etc.

I was the victim of a scam on Facebook Marketplace in which I sent $400 via Venmo to hold an item I wanted to purchase in a small town two hours away. All of my good Facebook Marketplace activities with Iowans led me to let down my guard this one time. Realizing my mistake, I immediately called my bank to stop payment to Venmo, then called Venmo to report that I had canceled payment because of fraud. This was reported to Venmo within minutes of my hitting send on my Venmo app.

Meanwhile, the Facebook account of the seller was deleted. Gone. Within minutes. For the next two weeks I searched FB marketplace for the same product (a 4 seater kids wagon stroller) and fake accounts with the same pictures and exact same description kept popping up all over Iowa. Before reporting some of the accounts, I messaged them that they were engaged in financial crime, that I was reporting them, and I received a response in a foreign language that I quickly realized was an African language. I google the translation and it said something like “you don’t know who or where we are.”

I was so infuriated I kept up my search and report activity for two weeks and it was literally a continuous wack-a-mole.

A week later I received a notification from Venmo that my account had been frozen and that I owed Venmo for the $400 for the product I’ didn’t received - even though I reported the fraud immediately. I went through numerous appeals within Venmo and their answer was essentially “we don’t care”

So I quit using Venmo. To be clear, Venmo and FB know their products are being used for cyber fraud on a massive scale and do nothing about it. This is the Wild West of Silicon Valley tech. The reason Silicon Valley tech CEOs have made billions is because they are responsible for the fraud taking place on their platforms. If they were responsible and had to pay the cost of the financial fraud, they would then work on fixing it.

So financial fraud and online data safety is a huge issue for consumers and would resonate with voters. Credit card, banking, and corporations are repeatedly reporting data leaks that result in consumer information - for millions of Americans - ending up on the dark web. It has literally become normalized for the data breaches to happen. And lawmakers do nothing because of the Silicon Valley tech cartel.

Appreciate all your work! Stephen Miller, part of whose title is "...Homeland Security Advisor", and who was quick to lead the charge blaming the murder victim, must be removed! He is the root of so many ills.

Please consider going on Joe Rogan and giving that sucker a true picture of what is going on. He is such a stupid piece of work. Also Bannon needs to be shown for what he is and is still doing.

Husaria's avatar

And, Joe Rogan is a guy that other ( mostly young ) guys look up to.

That’s sad.

As a guy I never knew what “ toxic masculinity “ was. Why? Because if I acted like these guys do I’d get my ears boxed and butt kicked six ways to Sunday by my dad, mom, uncles, aunts and at times even neighbors with my parents blessings.

The Joe Rogan followers never got that memo. They were told they’re special and nothing is ever their fault. It’s why they love the orange imbecile’s message and follow him faithfully. He speaks their love language.

Joe Rogan, Steve Bannon, Steven Miller and all of the orange imbecile’s men aren’t men. At least not how I was brought up and taught to act. None of these guys would have lasted five minutes in my house before they had a wrath unleashed on them that they couldn’t imagine.

After Tim Cook took a knee and offered Trump a golden trinket in tribute, I decided that my old cell phone and tablet are more sufficient. Similarly, I have canceled streaming subscriptions with Amazon, as well as my WP subscription. Small steps, but I gave up nothing of value. We can tangibly express our opposition! Boycott all the corporate Quislings! Send the money you save to the opposition!

This is what I emailed yesterday to Senators Moody and Scott as well as Representative Luna. I will resend daily until action is taken:

The recent murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti must be investigated along with the current violent enforcement practices of ICE and Border Patrol. The federal agents involved in the shootings must also be named, charged and prosecuted; these were illegal killings.

To prevent more violence and restore government integrity it is time to remove Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, Corey Lewandowski and Greg Bovino from office before they do any more damage to our country.

Chaos and violence in our cities is not an effective way to remove criminal immigrants, instead, it appears to be an act of vengeance on a city that disagrees with the president. This is un American. You have a responsibility to stop this.

I doubt they’re reading emails but I applaud you. We must do anything we can.

I had to leave voicemails. FL’s power-hungry spineless grifters won’t even have staff answer phones. Recording at Moody’s # states mailbox is full so I couldn’t even leave a vm. Today’s local news app says Vance planning to arrive in Lee county for a “big money” fundraiser in Naples. 🤮 No details available for the public. Imagine that😏

Is it not time to shift the anger, frustration, and repeatedly vocalized disdain for Trump, toward the Senate? They have blood on their hands, they are also the only ones who can effectively mitigate these assaults. Please start leading with condemnation of them. They stood by while others were attacked. I believe it is time to publicly make them accountable during this midterm year. The blood of those for whom they are paid to protect is on their hands. Say it please, over and over again. We can despise trump and his acolytes, but the congressional members need some ‘featuring’ on social media.

I would submit also condemning the Maga Supreme Court in their enabling tRump and his fascist regime by granting immunity...a permission slip, to an already convicted felon/adjudicated rapist, to do anything his and their immoral minds conjure up to maintain power and get rich, using their positions to grift off the public with impunity.

JODY NEWMAN's avatar

Absolutely, great comment. The difference is the Supreme Court has life appointments and hasn’t yet felt any pressure. Time to go after those who cashed paychecks, who were elected to take care of citizens but put their own safety and monetary benefits first.

Time to change the Constitution to fixed-time appts and subject to discharge upon violations of nearly any kind (particularly ethics). (imho)

Sandra A. Jones's avatar

Scotus reform should be on the top of the list when the democratic party becomes the majority: expand number of justices, stagger term limits, ethics requirements and enforce them, age limits, etc.... short of a Constitutional amendment vote. Lots of regulations can come from Congress (Art lll, Sec 2). We esp need more justices, at the very least 13 total to cover all 13 circuits and with diversified "politics". I'm in favor of upwards of 26, 2 for each circuit. I'm sick of nine highly prejudicial "justices" deciding for 340+million people. No more shadow dockets held in secret without presenting any arguments and no more dragging their feet to decide on a case...like tariffs. By the time they decide, the damage is done.

We need to overturn Citizens U., corporations are people and their money is speech. Restore women's reproductive rights---too many have died because of Alito et al. hatred of women. Anyway....enough said.

According to Bovino, the men who murdered Alex Pretti are still employed. They were just transferred out of Minnesota.

Sandra A. Jones's avatar

So he knows exactly who they were? Will we ever learn their names and backgrounds?

Lilli K's avatar

Seems like a reasonable inference, but he didn't say he knew exactly who they were. Somebody knows who they are. It only takes one person to reveal it. They should call the Hennepin County DA's office.

Sandra A. Jones's avatar

We know the one who instigated the whole thing is the agent in the tan stocking hat and backpack who violently shoved the woman protestor to the ground then proceeded to pepper spray Pretti, who is trying to help this woman. The agent then emptied his pepper spray canister on Pretti and then pulled him to the ground. Other agents joined during the scrum. A few seconds later he was seen striking Pretti with that cannister, stepping back, drawing his weapon and firing his gun after another agent shot him first. Both were CBP agents who were immediately recalled to serve somewhere else to cover up their identities by this corrupt fascist govt.

We are in a totalitarian state. The one party system that Trump has promoted, now through direct intimidation of any jurisdiction that has opposed him with masked, heavily armed goons is well on its way to dominance if we do not resist. Everything from intimidation of citizens, media, major law firms, major corporations, universities, trade, race, foreign alliances, healthcare, medicine and other vital institutions to the communist strategy of confiscating equity in public companies like Intel and advocating sugar in Coke is locked in. And the destruction of our soybean farmers is another non trivial decision as he is about to head to Iowa to tout how well his economy is doing. The lies get bigger by the day as his desperation to hold power grows.

I attribute the support that Trump has enjoyed to deep seated racism, grievance and normalization of his aberrance by legacy media for a decade. Sadly there are millions of Americans who support him for reasons I stated. Maybe if they now have a scintilla of concern about their own freedom from execution they may start to object to Trump and maga. We know that they have not benefited in any tangible economic way from trump in a year and maybe they will realize it too. In the meantime we can only peacefully exercise what had been our First Amendment right to freedom of speech and assembly until Trump approved of summary execution on our streets and soon in our homes. It is pure Nazism but magas are uninformed of its risk to their freedom and still want to "own the libs" thinking that they are immune to or will yet benefit from Trump's horrors.

Lastima's avatar

Oh how I pray that Trumps “chickens” come home to roost on his followers!😀

I’d like to be more optimistic, but Kristi Noem never lost an election in South Dakota. That’s right. Multiple opportunities to send her back to the farm, but they kept electing and re-electing her. Ever see the commercials she made as Governor? Supremely bizarre shit. Maybe things will be different now. We’ll see.

Wendy Shelley's avatar

Impeach and convict. Then no working in ANY government position at any time. Conviction is the key, not just impeachment. (imho)

May every word of every prediction herein be true, and may the destruction of MAGA come as soon as possible, before even more destruction of our democracy has occurred.

"Wir haben es nicht gewußt".... they will say.

Which is the lame excuse Germans used when they were questioned about the atrocities during the reign of the Austrian corporal. Because we all know they all knew.
