Agents of misery

Elon Musk has left the Trump White House with Stephen Miller’s wife, and has turned on Trump.
Here is what Musk said about Trump’s “big, beautiful” monstrosity:
Of course, the arson and vandalism of Trump and Musk are joined together forever. Their actions are fused, joined, and joint. Together, they are well and truly “they/them.”
For the record, Elon Musk spent over $330 million helping lift American fascism to power. He has championed its rise all over the world, including support for the vile German AfD, which hates America, fetishizes Putin, and is filled with Nazis.
Here is what Musk was saying about Trump days ago:
It is all madness.
Donald Trump’s attacks on American universities and scientists are another form of madness.
It should be thought about as a form of mob violence, an arson, or riot against knowledge, progress, invention and hope.
Max Boot at The Washington Post describes the situation perfectly, and analyzes it precisely:
On June 14 — the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army and, not so coincidentally, the 79th birthday of President Donald Trump — a gaudy display of U.S. military power will parade through Washington. No doubt Trump thinks that all of the tanks and soldiers on display will make America, and its president, look tough and strong.
But the planned spectacle is laughably hollow. Even as the president wants to showcase U.S. military power, he is doing grave and possibly irreparable damage to the real sources of U.S. strength, including its long-term investment in scientific research. Trump is declaring war on science, and the casualty will be the U.S. economy…
…So while China is investing to win the economic (and potentially military) contests of the future, Trump is undercutting long-term U.S. military and economic competitiveness with his anti-intellectual animus. The weapons systems that will be paraded in Washington on June 14 won’t be of much help to the United States in the future if it falls behind in the R&D race with China. I fear we may be seeing, as suggested by China expert Rush Doshi, the suicide of a superpower.
Trump isn’t just burning money and treasure.
He isn’t just burning down the house.
Trump is wrecking the foundation, poisoning the well, and salting the earth.
American power is steeped in the power of America’s scientific and technological knowledge and innovation industries that are rooted in research partnerships between the government and US universities.
There is no American century without this foundation. There is no ability for America to remain the world’s preeminent economic, military, innovation, invention, technology and scientific power without it.
Trump stands for decay, weakness, and for less, less, less. He isn’t making America great again, but rather poorer, less dynamic and less free. Trump is an agent of chaos and an apostle of fear. He is an abuser of people and power. He is a demagogue and a felon. He is incompetent and incoherent. He is a bully and a thug.
Tragically, he is president of the United States, but don’t fret, there is good news on the way.
The Democratic Party has commissioned a two-year, $20 million study on American men.
I imagine the expedition is provisioning as we speak.
By the time the Democratic Party study is complete many of America’s most important scientific research initiatives will have been impacted by the insanity and utter corruption of two men: Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
They aren’t just harming the American people and weakening the United States, but rolling back the forward progress of humanity.
They are agents of misery.
Yet, the American media seems wholly unperturbed over the fact that RFK Jr.’s chief advisor is a fraud.
The New York Times profiled Calley Means on May 22, 2025, and said he was a “former lobbyist,” and none of it is true. None of it has been corrected, despite the publication of a subsequent Vanity Fair exposé that demonstrates Calley Means of MAGA is a version of Sam Bankman-Fried, Elizabeth Holmes and George Santos.
American science, innovation, technology and American national power are all under assault by a cancer from within.
It has a name. Several, actually:
MAGA.
Donald Trump.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
What they are is America’s Khmer Rouge.

The comparison to the Khmer Rouge is apt. That comparison will mean something to people of a certain age, but likely not to younger folks unless they have studied history. Alas, that is rarely the case. Frankly, I don’t give a damn what young men who listen to Joe Rogan think. I really don’t. It’s a waste of time and money in my opinion.
The annual deficit will be $2.5 trillion over each of the next 2 years. We need a tax cut like we need a hole in the head. The fiscal irresponsibility is unfathomable. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/the-25-trillion-annual-deficit-plan?r=3m1bs
