PLUS: David Pakman on the Israel-Hamas war, dangers of Donald Trump & rise of anti-semitism
Austin Scott is a MAGA congressman who lined up behind the seditionist Jim Jordan in support of his ludicrous campaign to become second in line to the presidency.
Here is a taste of Jim Jordan’s campaign, and here is the actual text exchange:
Normally, When ‘dumbfellas’ and ‘weirdfellas’ come together anything is possible, but in this case that doesn’t seem to include the elevation of the unfit Jordan to the speakership, thuggery notwithstanding.
The speaker’s chair is empty and congressman Austin Scott seems completely befuddled by it. He seems confused about what happened, how it happened and why it happened. In fact, he sounds like a genuinely clueless teenager or legitimately crazy adult who can’t understand reality, and doesn’t understand the concepts of causality and consequences. It’s completely fascinating.
CNN’s Briana Keiler’s facial expressions and long pause after being gaslit are priceless. When you watch it, ask yourself how would you handle someone either so deluded or completely cynical?
Throughout the interview I thought Scott was just another MAGA halfwit reciting his talking points, while abusing the audience with absurdities. Yet, with each viewing I am more convinced that in the world in which he lives, where the opinion of Sean Hannity is revered and his power feared, that he actually doesn’t understand how Congress works at all. He can’t wrap his mind around the difference between the majority and the minority. He’s like a drunk who tore up the town and woke up in county jail dressed in a kangaroo suit. Ask him what happened and he’ll be the first to say, “Kangaroos are fake, and it was Nancy Pelosi’s fault.” Insanity doesn’t begin to describe the madness at hand.
Austin Scott either lives in a make-believe world, or thinks everyone around him is an imbecile. Truly. He seems incapable of grasping the reality that the MAGA majority can’t perform the most elemental task of a majority. It can’t pick a speaker because as a group of 222 they are too off the wall and utterly dysfunctional.
I have written about the massive and historic dysfunction over recent days. It is not the fault of the Democratic Party, which had no obligation to support the immoral and cynical man who resurrected Trump from the edge of oblivion with a resuscitative act of thermonuclear cynicism. The reason Hakeem Jeffries isn’t speaker is because Democrats don’t have a majority and lack the votes. The reason that the House doesn’t have a speaker is because the MAGA/GOP presided over the cuckoo nest.
You must watch this segment. It is truly mind-blowing.
Why does everyone in the MAGA Congress think everyone at home is so completely out to lunch that they can pull that off?
David Pakman on Israel-Hamas war, dangers of Donald Trump & rise of anti-semitism
A few months back, I joined David Pakman on his The David Pakman Show. This week, he sat down with me on The Warning podcast to speak about the increased dangers around the world. We discuss the situation in Gaza and what US and world involvement should look like in the Israel-Hamas war. We also talked about how this has led to a rise in anti-semitism around the world, and how Donald Trump’s autocratic and nationalistic influences on the GOP have increased the divide between Democrats and Republicans more than ever before.
You can watch here, or you can listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
Very true Steve. We need an adult in the room. Unfortunately, one party is filled with petulant five year olds masquerading as adults. I’m also wondering when this country stopped having respect for our elderly? Age was never an issue if the president executed his job faithfully and efficiently, for the people.
It seems that changed when republicans were telling our elderly that they should just die and sacrifice themselves during COVID for the sake of the economy. I guess this country has come a long way since Obamacare and the “non-existent” death panels....:)
Yesterday, I watched the Republican congressman, Austin Scott make a fool of himself on CNN, sounding like an ignoramus; and he’s probably one of the smart republicans.
He was blaming democrats for the dysfunction in the House. He had the audacity to claim that it was actually democrats who voted McCarthy out.
He refused to acknowledge that republicans have a majority in the House, and stated 212 democrats voted against McCarthy. When challenged that republicans have the majority, he still claimed it was the democrats fault.
Bottom line: not only does this moron believe his own lies, so will the entire MAGA mob, 90% of republicans and at least 30% of republican leaning independents.
You just can’t win with these people, and I’m wondering whether voters should have to take an IQ test before being allowed to vote.
Just some thought....:)
Kevin McCarthy also is placing the blame on the Democrats, as if the Republican representatives, (just like Trump), are blameless. This is a perfect example of “gaslighting”. I do not know how this ends up; I don’t think anyone does at this point. Just as long as Jim Jordan does not get voted in, (or Matt Gaetz for that matter), just maybe, there’s a glimmer of hope left for these schmucks. Hard to believe with so many Republicans in the House, there’s no one with any backbone and moral compass to take the helm.
