There has never been a televised debate between two men who have raised their hand, and swore the following oath:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
The most important question of the evening will be answered by the American people, which is this: does that oath matter to us? Does it have meaning, and are we capable of understanding and appreciating it?
Certainly, the founders of the United States of America who wrote and voted to ratify the constitution of the United States thought it was important. In fact, it is the only oath that is specifically written into the US constitution and mandated by it. Every American commander in chief since Washington has taken it, and only one has ever trampled, desecrated and burned it for the cause of brittle selfishness.
Here is a story about the oath and the horse and carriage ride through the night that carried America forward into the 20th century, nearly 125 years ago. It is an important story about the presidency, life, America and duty. The first US Secret Service agent killed in the line of duty lost his life during the harrowing ride so that the man in the carriage could take the oath:
There have only been 45 human beings who have ever lifted their hand and swore this oath out of the 700,000,000 Americans who have ever lived.
Out of those 45, the man who shattered his, wants another shot. Tonight, he stands with the man who defeated him in front of the country that he betrayed. When Trump abuses America tonight with lies, bluster, contempt and threats the words mean nothing unless the American people heed them. Only a weak and despicable people would allow a vandal to desecrate their home after doing it once, and promising to do it again. The test ahead tonight doesn’t belong to two men or two moderators. The test falls on the shoulders of the American people. If we don’t pass it, the founders were clear about what will happen.
Tonight is important. It’s important for America above all other considerations. Americans should bear that in mind when watching the debate. It’s about us and our children — not the vanities of two old men.
It should be obvious to all Americans that Trump violated that oath by plotting illegally to remain in office and when that failed, ordering a last ditch violent insurrection to accomplish that goal.
He has corrupted the judiciary with the appointment of judges like Aileen Cannon, who certainly knows that Trump illegally took 1000's of government documents with him to Mar a Lago, many top secret, yet she is employing every delay possible in the hopes Trump will win in November and the trial will never take place. She has scandalous accomplices on SCOTUS also delaying the trial by putting off, as long as possible, a decision on the ridiculous notion that a sitting president can not be charged with a crime committed in pursuance of his duties while in office.
Let's end Trump/MAGA's nine year reign of terror this November. Let's take our government back from the corrupt liars and con men trying to control all of us through establishment of an American theocracy.
How is it that everyday American evangelicals don't see that they are pawns being used by powerful, greedy, and unscrupulous "clergy" and politicians out to enrich themselves, most of whom defy the actual moral teachings of the New Testament.
How can Trump swear to uphold the Constitution when he’s publicly stated he will tear it down?
