Why is there no outrage over Russia’s war of annihilation being waged against Ukraine on the campuses of Americas elite universities? Is it because there are no Jew killers for whom to cheer?
Here is an example of moral relativism from The New York Times that misleads its readers with a stunning deception in the opening graph of a story about far-left, antisemitic Congresswoman Ilan Omar, who is as reciprocally extreme as her MAGA brethren.
Should it come to pass that Donald Trump is elected president, it will be because the American people are looking for protection from the profound moral rot evidenced by Omar’s dishonesty and sophistry below. They will choose the demagogue’s promises of strength and order.
It was just one sentence, uttered to reporters who had gathered around Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota last week when she turned up at a Columbia University encampment to offer a show of support for pro-Palestinian protesters — among them, her daughter, a student activist — demonstrating against the Israeli attacks on Gaza.
Ms. Omar, one of the leading pro-Palestinian voices in Congress, rejected the argument that the protests were antisemitic, noting that many of the participants were Jewish. “All Jewish kids” should be kept safe, she said, no matter which side they were on in the debate — or, as she framed it, “whether they’re pro-genocide or anti-genocide.”
“Israeli attacks on Gaza.” [emphasis added]
Really?
Is that what happened? Was it like Pearl Harbor? A sneak attack?
Here is what I wrote on October 8, 2023, about the attack, and where this would all lead:
What is it that Hamas saw in Israel over the last year? What did the Iranians see? Why did they pick this moment? Why now?
They saw division and chaos caused by the ego of one man, Benjamin Netanyahu. They saw the statements by the senior military, intelligence and government officials who decried Bibi’s attempts to cripple Israels’s democracy by neutering its independent judiciary.
They saw the protests that began in January 2023, and have continued since, where an enormous percentage of Israeli society has taken to the streets to fight for democracy.
They saw a society unnecessarily divided by its leader, whose selfishness and desire for power came before his duty to the nation.
What they saw was weakness and opportunity. They struck.
The surprise attack against the state of Israel by the terror group Hamas was unprecedented, savage and sophisticated.
It is the greatest intelligence failure in Israeli history, but also a staggering failure of US and allied intelligence agencies, which were caught completely flat-footed. Twenty-three years after the 9/11 attacks, two failed wars and trillions of dollars in spending, the American intelligence community has failed again, utterly.
Israel was caught by surprise — unprepared, unready and unable to see the wolf at the door. It is the greatest failure of competence in the history of the Israeli state, and now there is war.
The coming war will not be between Israel and Hamas. It will be between Israel and Iran, which controls Hamas. There was rejoicing in Tehran tonight as Iranians celebrated the terror attacks in the street.
Yesterday, an Iranian-backed militant group fired its first missile from Bahrain at a ship transiting the Red Sea, which expands the footprint of an escalating regional war that involves Yemen, Iran, Southern Lebanon, Syria, Bahrain and Gaza. Twenty days ago, Iran attacked Israel with 300 ballistic and cruise missiles and swarms of attack drones. Israel was defended militarily by Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the UAE. The Times’ description of what is happening is a misleading obscenity that idiotizes the reader as deeply and as thoroughly as the raging stupidity served by Fox, NewsMax and OANN.
Let us be clear about something else: the Ivy League Intifada of spoiled children, who know nothing about anything besides being indulged and coddled, are neither peaceful, nor protesting for peace. They aren’t pro-Palestinian. They have been indifferent to the suffering of Palestinians, and always have been. The silence certainly was deafening on America’s college campuses when Bashar al-Assad was killing Muslim children with poisoned gas in 2013.
Ilhan Omar’s declarations of genocide and accusations against Israel are a slur. They are despicable, and they are a lie.
There is no genocide in Gaza. The definition of ‘genocide,’ according to Article II of the United Nations Genocide Convention, is as follows:
In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
There is war in Gaza, and civilians suffer in war — always. The Palestinians suffer disproportionately in Gaza because they are held hostage by a death cult called Hamas. Hamas has spent billions of dollars building tunnels and buying weapons to kill Jews, which they promise to do again and again and again and again and again and again — until Israel is destroyed and all the Jews are dead. Hamas hides in the middle of civilian populations, and deploys military weapons systems in hospitals, schools and universities.
Hamas exists to kill and wipe Israel off the planet. It is an evil and barbaric force. The spoiled children cheering for them are repugnant, ignorant and precisely the same as the Bund Nazis, who filled Madison Square Gardens in 1938. Free societies perversely create people who despise freedom and liberty. These protests are a form of societal leukemia. Our cultural rot and extremism is maturing, and it’s letting us know.
I wrote about this predictable moment on October 9, 2023:
De-escalation. Have you heard the word yet on cable news?
Suddenly, it is everywhere, all at once. Make no mistake — it is pernicious, obscene, and unique to Israel.
The word is premised upon a history of Jew hatred that stretches back to antiquity, and represents a singular proposition that has endured through the centuries, but ended forever in 1948. The proposition is that Jews are to be hunted, murdered, gassed and killed without trial, without mercy and without resistance. The ubiquitous media question about “de-escalation” is a chimera that conceals a malignancy, which is this: why are you Jews fighting back? Why do you insist on living? Being? Surviving? Creating? Flourishing?
There is a fundamental moral proposition at hand in the hours that will precede a storm of death, including the deaths of innocent Palestinian civilians, among them the elderly, children, mothers and fathers. How can any nation or people de-escalate a conflict with people who want to see their extinction? There is a terrible amount of death that lies ahead. It will have been caused by the Iranian terror state and its terrorist agents, not the state of Israel, which is now at war because it was attacked by surprise at dawn.
The 10/7 attack was conducted against civilians, who were murdered in the desert at a music festival, in their homes, in their cars, on the street and running for their lives. It was the most violent day for unarmed Jews since 1945 — since the Holocaust. The murderers came by paraglider, boat and foot, but that doesn’t matter. It’s incidental. They came to kill Jews. They came to murder the hope of peace and reconciliation.
They came, like always, to kill the Jews. The world has always had a peculiar reaction when Jews are killed en masse. Typically, it induces an instinct to look away, or worse, to blame the Jews for the hatred they incur. It takes a special type of hate to blame the murdered for their murders. There is a name for this immorality. It is called anti-semitism.
Let’s be clear about what will happen next.
There will be war.
There will be death, horror and destruction.
It will play out on international television. The images will be shattering. The world now faces a growing reality that regional conflicts will spread, grow and escalate into a global catastrophe.
Palestinians and Arabs enjoy Israeli citizenship, and serve openly in the Knesset. There is no genocide, and the chants of “Genocide Joe” are another slur that deserves confrontation.
The simple truth is this: we have a completely broken higher education system in America. The evidence is the sheer number of schools that have demonstrated their deep rot and the ignorance, unpreparedness and silliness of their students.
There is a dangerous and rising extremism in America. It exists on both the left and right.
We must stop both. They feed off of each other, and are equally evil.
The center must hold, or things fall apart.
Israel is losing the war in Gaza. This is why these protests will matter and grow. The audacity of the Hamas attack and its daring have paid off. The cold-blooded slaughter of Jews has reawakened the furies. They spread the blood lust for the Jews’ destruction all over the world, planting an old idea as a new seed in the hearts of millions.
Benjamin Netanyahu is an immoral man and the immoral leader of a moral nation. He is the worst prime minister in Israeli history, and a failure of truly historic dimensions. His incompetence has isolated Jews all over the world, and imperiled the survival of Israel.
Yet, here in America, thousands of miles from the horrors of Gaza, where spoiled Columbia students wear keffiyehs on their heads and cry for their meal plans, it is lazy to blame what we are seeing on Israel. Columbia stands a few miles from the World Trade Center, where thousands were killed by terrorists who were very much like the Hamas killers. Something has gone very wrong indeed when so many of our young people venerate the killers and celebrate the terrorists.
When ordinary Americans watch these scenes on television many have a one-word answer: Trump.
We are looking at the gates opening to the abyss.
Historically it’s been convenient to blame Jews instead of taking time to learn the complex history of the conflict and understanding where the real blame needs to be placed, Netanyahu and his ultra orthodox right wing minority. And if we’re not careful the same will happen here in the US with Christian nationalism.
Why no protest at colleges against Russia’s war to annihilate Ukraine? We aren’t paying Russia to perpetuate their war crimes.
